Kings Dominion and Memorial Day

It’s almost over

I wanted to do this post in english, just because english is so much easier to deal with than danish, haha 🙂
This sunday I spent in DC with all my amazing exchange student friends. CCI had a booth at the Green Festival, and they needed us exchange students to help out. Basically the goal was to get as many people as possible interested in hosting a student next year, so if you want to host a student pleasseee do so, you will give another person, just like me, an awesome opportunity, and that is actually what I want to talk about in this post.

Sunday was also my last time meeting some of these amazing friends I have made, since they are leaving next weekend, and it was also my last meeting with my local coordinator. In the end of the year we have to evaluate and talk about our experience, and it made me really think about what I have been doing for almost 10 months. I never really realized before sunday that this is almost over (I actually cried a little haha), it has gone by so fast, I can’t believe it. So many memories in such a short time, and this has definitely been the best decission I have ever made. I had to describe my year in 1 word and I said “Important”. I chose that because I have learned so much I would have never thought about if I stayed in Denmark. I have seen a new culture, even though USA seems pretty similiar, believe me it’s not. There are so many amazing things that I would like to introduce to Denmark, and on the other side I have found out what I really love about Denmark. I know now how important it is to experience a different part of the world, because it makes you appreciate your own country and culture even more. It is funny how that works, and I never thought that I would see the world this way. I know that one year ago I was counting down the days till when I was leaving, and now my countdown says “24 days left till home”. It is still pretty unreal to me that I can now go home and be the one talking about my year, giving advices to new exchange students, when I was the one listening just a year ago. I am an almost “Fully experienced” exchange student, and I am so proud of everything. I just want to give you one advice: DO IT, become an exchange student! You will not regret it, and it will for sure be the most memorable year of your life.
